assistance is available. Home schoolers and those attending private

be formed until an adult takes the leadership position.

For
over 90 years, the Girl Scout Program has provided education opportunities
for girls to participate in outdoor activities, the arts, science,
and technology. Girl Scout codes of conduct also help girls develop
values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound
decision-making. In addition, Girl Scouting promotes pluralism at
every level in the organization.
"Girl
Scouting encourages girls to explore the world around them with
a sense of adventure and fun," said Cora Ann Blytas, chair
of the board for Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council (GSSJC). "They
have the opportunities to work on badges, conduct service projects,
explore career options, learn leadership skills, and build self-esteem."
"Our
goal is to bring Girl Scouting to every girl, everywhere,"
said GSSJC CEO Mary Vitek. "We help girls build on the skills
and self-confidence they will need to meet their goals in life and
be contributing members of their communities."
In
Girl Scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls
together. Through the many enriching experiences provided by Girl
Scouts, they can grow courageous and strong. GSSJC serves over 50,000
girls and 13,000 adults in 21 southeast Texas counties.
